1

Model the rule, not just the banner

Configure regional behaviour around processing purposes and legal actions: EU-style opt-in, US advertising opt-out and sensitive-data consent are different decisions. The visible banner is only one part of the rule; tags, audiences and server-side destinations must receive the result.

2

Recognise supported universal opt-out signals

Where your organisation is required to honour a recognised universal opt-out mechanism, detect the signal and route it to the central preference service. Do not make the visitor repeat the same choice through a second form.

Decide and document how the signal interacts with a saved account preference. A later marketing action must not silently restore an opted-out state.

3

Test the full enforcement path

Run regional test profiles with and without the signal. Inspect the browser, tag manager, API events and downstream advertising destinations to confirm that each system receives and enforces the expected state.
